  Teaching can be a drain on your saving accounts some of the time, especially if you're not that careful with cheap credit cards. But being careful with cards and scouting the market for the best deals, say, via pet insurance comparison or something like broadband comparison will contribute to not only a better understanding of what you're getting into, but will also save precious funds in the long run.
